Lexus LFA

This new Lexus super car is pretty sweet! It is Lexus' first real step into the supercar market and they did pretty well in my book! The 4.8 L V10 engine is sweet, especially how light it is compared to other V10's. I really like the the tri-exhaust thing they got going! Overall it is bad ass!

Mazda Ryuga Concept

I first saw this car and thought it was cool but didnt compare to the concepts of Lamborghini or the other high end car manufacturers, but once I saw the inside, it completely changed my mind!

It is a good looking car dont get me wrong, but its not the coolest thing I have ever seen

But check out the steering wheel and speedometer layout. Feel like I just stepped into an alien space ship or something. Pretty sweet!

Summaries and Interviews

IDEO Summary:

What I got from the video for the most part was the process of coming up with a great idea. The group, a key part to creating a successful idea, highlights the problems with the current object and brainstorms how to delete this obstacles. They then used several methods to come up with the best ideas possible and a design a working and great product.

The Writer's Toolbox Summary:

This reading talked about the different methods of explaining and helping our designs become more clear and how to come up with better ideas. Mind maps are used to find problems and find things that peope like about the object. Concept maps are very simialar to mind maps except they use propositional statements to help link the words together. Both of these maps can be used to come up with ideas and help explain ideas to clients. Freewriting, brainwriting and word lists are used to find new ideas that were not thought of before and sculpt even more creative ones out of existing ideas.

Interviews About Design:
Alex:

Alex didn't enjoy how the lamp was so bright and that you couldn't do anything about it. He said it would make a really cool looking lamp. "The portability is extremely useful and innovative but instead of it just being a drawing I would make it a real object."

Chris: "I love lamp!" was Chris' initial response to the sketches. He said the geometric flashlight head was cooler than the organic one but that a geometric base was needed to match.

Chris "Toro": "Toro" has the same lamp that I critiqued and agreed that a variable switch for the amount of light was needed. He did point out that the plug in to the flashlight might get in the way when holding it.

Chandler: My girlfriend thought the sketches were really cool and innovative. She liked the organic flashlight more than the geometric one but didnt like the color that i added to the blown up picture of the flashlight.

Tabitha: My roomate's girlfriend really agreed that a sturdy base was necessary because her lamp always tipped over when she tried to rearrange the light. She thought that the compartments in the base were cool, especially the gel pen holder. She thought that some color would make it really pop and more interesting.
